Return to Worship - Postponed

Please check back with us on returning to Worship.

A Letter from Church Council:

After much consideration the Church Council has made the decision to resume services at 11:00 a.m. on July 12, 2020. While we want to be open as quickly as possible and welcome everyone back, we must be mindful of current events and the safety of the congregation and staff. The decision to resume services at the church was made after careful consideration and following the advice from the Bishop. We also conducted an online survey and most members wanted to return in July. The Church Council has been meeting regularly, usually every two weeks, since the pandemic started. Although the Bishop said services could begin as soon as June 28, we thought it prudent to wait until July the 12.

While we want to welcome everyone to in-person worship, we also want everyone to consider their own circumstances and make an independent decision on when they feel safe to return. We will continue to have an online virtual worship video.

For everyone’s safety, we will also be making modifications to the way we worship:

  • The sanctuary will be cleaned before each service
  • Masks will be required.
  • Social distancing will be planned in advance. That is, seating will be planned in advance. The ushers will seat families 6 feet apart within the sanctuary.
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided and you will be asked to sanitize your hands as you enter.
  • At the end of the service ushers will direct families to exit while maintaining social distance.
  • The collection plate will be located at the church entry. Please drop off you offering as you enter.
  • We will have music but there will be no singing in order not to spread airborne viruses.
  • There will be no nursery provided.

More detail information will be forwarded to you as we come closer to July 12. We do ask that you click on the link above "Return to Church RSVP"  and let us know if you plan to attend Worship so we can make further preparations for welcoming you back.

In the meantime please continue to watch the Virtual Sunday Worship services with Pastor Sharon Waters.

Thank you, Church Council

Sunday mornings at University Heights UMC are a time that our community gathers to fellowship, worship, and to hear God's Word. Our service blends traditional hymns and anthems with contemporary hymns as we lift our voices in praise of God. We would love for you to worship at UHUMC on a Sunday morning. We meet at 11:00 A.M. every Sunday morning in the Sanctuary.  Hope to see you there!

Lunch after Worship

The benefits of Christian fellowship are an important aspect of our worship. Together we give hope, support and strength to each other even as we relax and share a meal after Sunday worship. Our gathering place is the food court at North DeKalb Mall, where tables and chairs are moved together allowing us to sit as a group and enjoy good food and entertaining conversations. Look for the long table of smiling faces!

Handicapped Access

All are welcome at University Heights United Methodist Church. To accommodate members and guests with physical disabilities, the church complies with ADA standards for parking, building entrance and exit, and a dedicated restroom.
